Rebates and incentives
Get help paying for home energy improvements
Most of us put off home improvements for the same reason — the cost. We’d like to help with that. MTE offers rebates on qualifying upgrades, competitive financing for a new heat pump, no-cost improvements for qualifying members, and a bill credit for installing EV charging wiring at home. Some of these are MTE programs, and the rest are in partnership with our power generation partner, TVA.
Ways we can help you save
A rebate gives you money back after you make a qualifying upgrade. With Home Rebates, you can get money back on home energy improvements like heating and cooling work, ductwork, air sealing, and insulation. MTE offers Home Rebates with TVA EnergyRight. The work must be done by a contractor in our Quality Contractor Network. Renting? You may still qualify with your landlord's permission.
Smart Thermostat Rewards, a TVA EnergyRight program, pays you for using less energy when grid demand is highest. You can get a rebate for enrolling a thermostat you already own or buying a new one, plus an annual reward for taking part.

A new heating and cooling system is a big expense, and it often comes at the worst possible time. The Heat Pump Loan Program lets you pay for a new electric or dual-fuel unit over time at a competitive rate. Terms run up to 10 years, there's no penalty for paying it off early, and your payments are added to your electric bill. A contractor from our Quality Contractor Network does the installation.

For some households, even a rebate or a loan is out of reach. Through Home Uplift, MTE and TVA provide major home energy upgrades at no cost to eligible households. Upgrades can include heating and cooling repair or replacement, ductwork, insulation, and air sealing. These improvements can make your home more comfortable and help lower your energy costs. See the Home Uplift page to learn who qualifies and how to apply.

EV Ready gives residential members a credit for installing wiring for Level 2 (240-volt) EV charging at an existing home. It works with any Level 2 charger, not one brand. Apply online with your receipt, and the credit appears on your next bill. Builders and home developers apply separately. Questions? Email our EV team at DriveEV@mte.com.
